Editorial Policy

This page explains how The Pet Vet researches, writes, reviews, and updates its pet health content.

Research and sources

Articles are based on established veterinary sources, such as veterinary school publications, professional veterinary associations, and peer-reviewed research. We avoid claims that a remedy “cures” a disease, and we note when evidence is limited.

Human review before publishing

New and updated articles are reviewed and approved by a person before they go live, and nothing is published automatically. We are reviewing our older articles to the same standard and removing ones that don’t meet it.

Veterinary review

We are adding medical review by a licensed veterinarian across our health content. When an article has been medically reviewed, it shows the reviewer’s name, credentials, and the date of review. Articles without that line have not yet been medically reviewed.

Safety first

Content about medications, dosing, toxins, or emergencies always tells readers to consult their own veterinarian, and we never give individual dosing instructions. If a topic could put a pet at risk, it waits for veterinary review before publishing.

Updates and corrections

We review articles when veterinary guidance changes and show the date of the last update. If you spot an error, please contact us; corrections are reviewed promptly.
